What is the difference between 3D elbow and 5D elbow?
3D elbow refers to an elbow whose bending radius of the elbow axis is three times the nominal diameter of the pipe. It has the same function as the long radius elbow (the bending radius is 1.5 times the nominal diameter of the pipe) and the short radius elbow (the bending radius is equal to the nominal diameter of the pipe). They are both a type of pipe fittings 5D elbow used at pipe turns. Its precise name is steel elbow.
3D Elbow:
3D elbow refers to an elbow whose bending radius of the elbow axis is three times the nominal diameter of the pipe.

5D Elbow
5D elbow refers to an elbow whose bending radius of the elbow axis is 5 times the nominal diameter of the pipe.

Elbows are pipe fittings that change the direction of a pipeline. According to the angle, there are three most commonly used elbows: 45 degree , 90 degree and 180 degree . In addition, according to project needs, other abnormal angle elbows such as 60 degree are also included. Elbow materials include cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, carbon steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics, etc. The methods of connecting to pipes include: direct welding (the most common method) flange connection, hot melt connection, electrofusion connection, threaded connection and socket connection, etc.
